Switch Your Accounts to Farmers State Bank

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means to you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.

Are you unhappy with your current bank but stay there because you think it’s just too much hassle to change banks? Well, not any more. At Farmers State Bank, we make changing banks a breeze! The following is a helpful checklist that will guide you through switching from your current bank to Farmers State Bank.

  1. Choose the checking account that best suits your needs, fill out the printable Deposit Account Application and bring it to the branch location nearest you. When you open your checking account, you will be given a small amount of starter checks. At the bottom of the checks you will find the Farmers State Bank routing number (074906428) and to the right of that you will find your account number.

  2. Sign up for Farmers State Bank Internet Banking to access your entire account relationship online.

  3. Sign up for Farmers State Bank Check Free Bill Payment and schedule your regular monthly payments – no stamps, no checks, no late fees!

  4. Use your old checking account until you receive your printed checks for the new account.

  5. Keep the old account open until all the checks have cleared and all your direct deposits and automatic payments have been changed. Then destroy your old, unused deposit slips, checks and ATM cards. Use the Reconciliation Form to do a final balancing of the old account.

  6. Complete the Direct Deposit/Automatic Payment Switch Form to authorize Farmers State Bank as the new depository for your direct deposit. Deliver this form to the Human Resources department of your employer; or mail it to the company that issues your direct deposit.

  7. Use the Automatic Payment Authorization Form to authorize any automatic payments (loan, insurance and other) to be made from your new account. Mail this form along with a voided check on the new account to the company to whom you are issuing the authorization.

  8. Close your old checking account by completing the Account Closing Form Letter and mailing it or hand delivering it to your previous financial institution.
