GETTING STARTED
Federally mandated for all financial institutions offering on-line banking, Enhanced Sign On is an additional layer of security to assist in protecting you from fraudulent online activity. Simply, it's added security for you and your financial information. The process uses images during your sign on process to provide you with confidence that you are on the Farmers State Bank's website and it's safe to enter information. This enhanced security feature was designed to prevent the internet fraud technique known as phishing.

Complete these four steps.
- Access ID (User ID)
Enter your access ID – just like you normally would. Click the "Log In" button.
- Password
Enter your password. Click "Submit."
- Personalizing Your Log In
E-Mail: If the "Enter E-mail Address" bar appears, this means we don’t have an e-mail address on file for you. Please enter and confirm your e-mail address. This allows easy access for you if you ever forget your password.
A Picture and a Phrase: A picture (an authentication image) automatically appears for you (you can change* this once you’re logged in). Type a phrase to accompany this picture. (During future log ins you’ll use this picture/text combination as confirmation that you are on our website. Once you see that the picture and phrase match then you enter your password.)
Challenge Questions
Next you'll select challenge questions to ensure that only authorized individuals are accessing your account information. You’ll select a total of three questions. (These challenge questions are only used when you log in to your account from a non-registered computer.)
Register Your Computer
Finally you'll decide whether to register the computer you are using as an authorized location from which to access your account information. You may "authorize" more than one computer - for example, you can authorize your home and work computers. Never register computers located in a public setting.
- Submit Your Information:
Please note the set up is not complete until you click the "Submit" button to confirm your selections. If you exit the set up process before this step, you must start the process again.
*Once you are logged in, click the "Options" button and click the "Change Security Data" link. From there you can change your picture, phrase, or your challenge questions.

No. The phrase that accompanies your picture lets you know that you are at our website and not an imposter site. Once you see that your selected picture and phrase match, you can enter your password. The "picture" phrase you select should not contain personal information like your password because the picture/phrase combination automatically displays when you sign on.

The picture/phrase combination is our way of telling you that you are at Farmers State Bank website, a legitimate website. This protects you from a fraudulent internet activity known as phishing. They are always displayed together when you sign on, forget your password, or need to change a temporary or expired password.

Challenge questions are used as an additional form of identification when you sign on from a computer that has not been registered. They are also used to verify your identity if you forget your password or need to change a temporary or expired password. These extra security measures help us insure that only authorized individuals access your financial information.

We store a permanent cookie on the computer that enables us to recognize it as an authorized location to access your information online. The next time you sign on, we will recognize the location and you will not be asked to answer confirmation questions as part of the sign on process.

Registering your computer is another security measure to protect you and your financial information. With your access ID and password, this information helps us prevent unauthorized access to your accounts. On a registered computer, you are not asked to answer confirmation questions when you sign on - making it faster to access your account information.

Yes. Each time you sign on using an unregistered personal computer, you will be given an opportunity to register it.

We don't recommend registering public computers to access your financial information online. Public computers can be used by many individuals and aren't typically as secure as a personal computer. When you use public computers, we will ask you additional questions before you sign on to protect your personal information. Examples of public computers include computers available at a hotel, library, coffee shop, or other public locations.

If more than one person is commonly using this computer to access information for accounts they have with us, each person should register the computer for faster access to their information. Registered locations are saved for each customer.

You may be asked to register this computer again if the cookie is deleted or if your Internet browser doesn't allow permanent cookies. Also, if you use more than one Internet browser on your computer, you will be asked to register this computer the first time you use a different browser. Note: If your Internet browser doesn't allow permanent cookies, you can change your cookie settings using the instructions provided in the Internet browser's help file.

If you enter your access ID and the next screen does not show your picture and phrase, do not enter any personal information. Instead, re-enter your access ID and try again or contact us for assistance. Do not continue to input personal information if your picture and personal phrase do not match or appear. As an additional security measure, we recommend that you place our home page (fsbanking.com) in your list of web favorites.

Do not worry if someone sees your picture and phrase. It’s just our confirmation to you that you are at our website. Your picture and personal phrase are always displayed when you sign on. Remember it’s your password that’s most important. Identical to your current log in, your password is NOT visible when entered into the Enhanced Sign On process.

Challenge questions must be answered to access your account information from an unregistered computer. Answers are not case sensitive but the information and spelling must match what was entered during setup. You will have several opportunities to answer the questions correctly before access to your account information is disabled. If you are not able to access your account information, please contact us for assistance.

Please click the "Forgot Password" link provided on Farmers State Bank homepage. It’s located on the left side, in the On-Line Banking section. Clicking on the link will prompt you to enter your Access ID, and your password will then be emailed to the email address you had previously provided to us. If, for some reason, we do not have your email address on file, you will receive a message directing you to call our Operations Department for customer service. At that time, one of our staff will enter your email address into our system and reset your password.
*In order to ensure email communication is successful between you and the bank, please maintain your current email address within online banking. You may choose Change Email Address under the options menu to do this. If, at any time, you have questions, you may call our Operations Department at 574-480-2408 / 574-269-2408 or email us at Kristen.Beverly@fsbanking.com.

For your security auto-fill entries will not work. Enhanced Sign On uses a multi-page -or factors -process that does not allow your browser to anticipate your password entry. While the Auto Complete feature may be helpful for some things, it can also seriously compromise your security and privacy. If a password is saved in the browser on a public computer, that information is available to others for use or theft.

To register this computer as an authorized location for accessing your account information, your Internet Browser must be set to accept permanent cookies. Most browsers accept cookies as a default setting. If you haven’t customized this setting, you’ll probably not need to make any changes. If you do need to change the Internet cookie setting to accept permanent cookies, follow the instructions provided in the Internet browser’s help file to complete this task. If you do not want to make this change, you will be able to sign on using the confirmation questions for validation.

No, someone cannot access your account information online simply because the computer has been registered. In addition to the cookie we use to register a computer, your access ID and password are needed to sign on from an authorized location. If you are concerned about a cookie that has been left on a public computer, we suggest that you change your password and/or user ID. The cookie does not contain this information and is useless if these other identifiers are not presented properly. Cookies are also updated periodically as an additional security measure.
